I am sure they will find that trump and staff suppressed response leading up to the 6th so his thugs would have a clear shot to punch democracy in the face.
Barring some smoking gun that points to coordination or collusion, the real answer is clear as day; white violence is, if not permissible, tolerable to institutions created to enforce white supremacy.
Damn that Antifa! Such sneaky bastards waving around all those Trump flags!
You can post 100 more photos like that and the Know-Nothings will just yell “crisis actors” and “false flag” and “antifa”.
I have read of an alternative explanation that gives me great hope: the Pentagon was worried that there were too many sympathizers in the National Guard, et al, and Trump was prepared to weaponize them if they showed up, to help rather than thwart his will. So, holding them back kept the situation from becoming a military-supported coup.
In 2009 a Department of Homeland Security report identified homegrown right wing extremism as one of the most serious growing threats to our country.
Not only were the warnings largely ignored, but the report was angrily attacked by Republicans across the country as liberal propaganda by the Obama administration designed to smear conservatives. The authors were raked over the coals and entire careers were jeopardized.
So yeah, it’s hardly any wonder that so few were willing to stick their necks out over this.
And it was roundly ignored by various law enforcement, because they wanted to keep arresting brown people.
Yep.
White violence has ALWAYS been the primary threat to America and Americans. ALWAYS.
Riot? Rioters?
No, they’re insurrectionists. Seditionists. Coup attempters, whatever, and not mere “rioters.”
Even though they were the ones that were there, yeah - funny how it works that way.
With the constant barrage of gaslighting, particularly from the “mainstream” of the Republican party, it still feels really important to regularly reassure and reaffirm the 63% that we aren’t crazy.
Agreed; we’re all wise to keep doing regular reality/sanity ‘checks.’
I was looking/hoping for an /s.
That the Pentagon was worried that a branch of the military would help overthrow the government is pretty slim in the hope department.
Yes, I know that the National Guard is not a “branch” of the military, but part of the Army and Air Force Reserves.

From that feed: Lindsey Graham, voicing Republican anger, says Biden is politicizing Jan. 6
Wow. yes, Lindsey, “politicizing” what could have been just a lovely, bipartisan insurrection tour, right?
The fucking audacity of the man. He is such a coward.
This seems to happen every few years. I remember even during the Clinton administration, the evidence pointed to right-wing terror being an increasing threat, but instead they prioritized going after “eco-terrorism,” a term made up to justify the extreme response to groups that had never hurt anyone and had only done property damage. (Ironically the actual eco-terrorist groups came later, directly inspired by the tactics of anti-abortion terror groups that had been almost entirely ignored by law enforcement.)
Republicans are so close to right-wing terror groups that they have a fit any time anyone tries to acknowledge what a real threat they are, claiming it’s a partisan attack. But all their angry protests do is prove the Republican party is cozy with violent extremists, and has been for many decades.
He’s just saying shit with no evidence… peak Lindsey…
