I don’t think they intended for it to survive. In an interview with the stunt driver afterward he said he expected the jump to turn out “a lot worse”.
Ha, I was thinking something similar, like why shouldn’t they be worrying about turning things around, but I guess you gotta remember to have fun.

I find that my high riding position gives me a better view of what drivers are up to on their phones than most drivers get. Where I live its an absolute epidemic of phone use.

In the mid 80’s my manager played ‘Back To The Future’ at Radio Shack on the TV’s for 12 hours a day !!
Our store was cross the hall in the mall from the movie theater and people would buy their tickets throughout the day. Then with 5-20 minutes to wait they would clog the front corner of our store watching the movie.
(A year later, Top Gun drew twice the crowd if the movie was at the action scenes!)
