Once, there were people who believed that the internet would automatically be a force for good.
Hate to break it to you, but that’s gone the way of the dodo bird.
" I’m fairly sure if they took porn off the internet, there’d only be one website left, and it’d be called Bring back the porn!” "

Yeah, but it’s still really funny to re-read the early issues of Wired.
It’s all good stuff. But what is the road to Utopia?
My present problem is that there are entries in almost any online discussion in the UK saying “I like Boris. Boris will make a fine PM, and Brexit will be the making of Britain.” Usually little more than that: an expression if sentiment but no facts. No swears, and no capitals, which is unusual in itself. None of them seem to have any posting history. They are all followed by each other. And there must be thousands of them - almost one to every Facebook discussion. Apparently Boris himself is pleased with this ‘upturn’ in his ‘popularity’.
One day, we may find out who is doing what to whom.
PS:
In reply to the comment which is surely to come, if I had deleted Facebook, I would have no idea of the scale of this.
