Ah, the American way: alter art to accommodate the viewer, rather than encourage (nay, even force) the viewer to change their mindset. In other words, the art version of clickbait.

Because decades of ignoring the science of developmental psychology and trying to force children to develop longer attention spans before their brains are ready has worked out so well. Maybe a Procrustean bed of Ritalin will help. /s
