Police called on homeless person asleep on park bench; it was actually a Jesus statue

It was That Holy Night in Bethlehem. Angels sang overhead. Livestock sang in the manger. Wind sang through the acacias, spurges, and palms. Everyone was joyous.

Miryam, nursing the Holy Infant at her glowing, engorged breast, asked Yusef, “What shall we name the child?”

Right then a big chunk of brick fell from the ceiling and landed on Yusef’s foot.

“JESUS CHRIST!” he yelled.

Miryam looked thoughtful.

“Y’know Joe, that has a nice ring to it.”

It won’t surprise me a bit to hear about cops Tasing & shooting one of these statues for Resisting Arrest.
I just hope someone is there to record it for posterity.

Not sure if a taser can survive being fired at something so conductive. Maybe its like the cigarette lighter socket in a late model VW. Sure we can fix that, for 500 dollars.

Uh… more like 50 years. The whitewashing of Jesus is a relatively recent phenomenon.

Once people get used to these benches, could we make bronze Jesus disguises for the homeless?

Reminds me of dead people wrapped in shrouds. Jesus died for our sins on a park bench, on a cross, debating temptation and raging against the money changers.

See “Homeless Jesus” is a widespread issue! We need to increase funding to the Park Bench Police!

I wonder what would have happened if they’d tazed him?

A round of christian statues:

The intent of the piece is very noble, but at first look it’s just one more park bench fitted with an anti-homeless device. Maybe next time a more sleep-friendly Jesus, on His back, a flattened body and legs, with a pillowy head?

Every painting of Jesus ever seems to have had the spliff shopped out

Have you seen any European art from the middle ages? Very white Christ, very more than 50 years old.

Had Yeshua bir Miryam actually existed (that’s not corroborated) he would likely have looked rather like Yasser Arafat.

But without the uniform.
