I completely agree with you. In fact, I actually LIVED through the transition of that. When white people feel outnumbered, they allow other non-black groups to at least temporarily join the group. The next group starting to be assimilated has been east Asians, although covid-19 shows how quickly that veneer wears off.

Yeah, that’s the thing, the veneer wears off sometimes, when shitheads decide to dredge up old hatreds for some groups.
I’ve long heard the phenomenon with Asians in terms of calling them “honorary whites.” (Cuz model minority myth, etc.)
