Poll: 71% believe mass shootings are now just a normal part of American life

Maybe humans don’t get much less murderous than they already were in Australia, before they passed their gun control laws.

Here’s the gun control I’d like to see:
-More effective, streamlined background checks (Dylan Roof was able to get a gun because his background check timed out, for instance)
-Criminal liability for people who furnish guns used in crimes. If you loan someone a gun, and they use it to rob a bank, then you should be an accessory to that robbery.
-All firearm transfers should go through FFLs and include a background check. If my Dad gives me a rifle, we should still have to do the paperwork.

Those changes might somewhat reduce the number of criminals able to get their hands on guns, and they’re not an unreasonable burden.

Other, non-gun control changes that should work to reduce the violent crime rate:
-A vocational track in high schools
-Mandatory national service (think CCC, not necessarily Army)
-An end to the War on Drugs

Oh, well.

I would support all of these measures and have suggested the second two before.

As someone who founded a hackerspace, I’m completely in agreement with this.
