Portland is fining the US Government $500 every 15 minutes for its illegal fence

“States rights.”

According the Shathak (Mrs. Tsathoggua), who has inside information on this, they will start by adding it to the bill for services the City regularly presents to the Feds. If that doesn’t work collections and lawsuits are options.

I think you mean “Wyden (D-OR)”

And what then, if they still don’t pony up?

Then it’s up to the City’s lawyers. I’m passing on the latest information from someone who knows more than either of us. She can’t predict the future. If you want to know the contingencies you can contact PBOT who might tell you or might not want to tip their hand more than this.

Gee, thanks.

You have a great day now.

Most, but DHS is staying.

Thanks for correcting that. I had the response typed up but checked to see if anyone else had beat me to it.

Thanks. There was an implied /s there about the local talent, but I didn’t know DHS was sticking around. I appreciate the correction/heads up.

Can’t they back up one of their “Tanks” most police departments were given (for SWAT purposes), have a bomb disposal member go out and hook up a cable to the fence and said tank, and, um…drive off with the fence?

They should foreclose on the federal building itself then go in and arrest the CBP Nazis occupying the newly city owned property.

Christ, what assholes.

Will the US Gov’t skip town to avoid paying the fines?

Just pull the goons back and let the protesters do it. Taking down the fence around the parks just took a couple minutes

300k is about 13 seconds of defense spending…

…13 seconds of median wage is about 5c…

Add the fine to the utility bill. If they don’t pay, turn off the water and whatever else Portland provides (places I’ve lived range from water & sewer to water, sewer, gas, and electric.)

One sure way to get their attention is when the toilets don’t flush.

But isn’t the whole point that their fence is on a public sidewalk and therefore outside whatever federal enclave might exist?

partial credit for the rhyme

But they’re already so full of crap, will they even notice?

Maybe a bold cyclist can take one for the team and “accidentally” run afoul of these hazards?
Then the personal injury lawyers will get involved, and those guys are pretty ruthless.

I am also slightly sad the headline wasn’t “Portland tells feds to stay in their lane”
