I do think it’s obnoxious to eat out unless you genuinely believe all citizens should be doing it. And that would be obnoxious to believe right now.

I’d suggest you want to walk that one back, friend. Of course people object when police cause harm. All of the above cause harm. But the reaction when someone is shot by police compared to less-lethal responses is markedly different.

What people object to is cops using unwarranted violence, especially considering that cops are theoretically here to protect the public. So yes, people get upset when cops taser people who don’t need to be tasered or pepper spray people who don’t need to be pepper sprayed or shoot people who don’t need to be killed.
Also: this isn’t a story about a cop violently accosting someone in the guise of protecting public safety. It’s a story about a mayor’s response against someone who was accosting him.
