Possible PBBB laptop RPG game

Oops, didn’t notice things were happening. So Nic dozing off is pretty fitting.

Edit: What’s Arron up to?

Lurking in his carriage.

BTW, what I’m after are some more specifics on how you’re going about looking for the entrance and/or investigating the ruins. So far, all we’ve got is “wander about and look for anything obvious”.

My character is from the Nomad Lands. His knowledge of architecture is limited.

He’ll do what he is told, but other than that, his (and my) best idea is for him to climb up to the top of the hill and keep watch.

If there’s any specific kind of animal you’d like him to summon and possess that you think might be helpful, that’s an idea, too, but I can’t think of any that would give information of any benefit.

my thoughts

  1. The earth dug up in the construction had to go somewhere. I think we may be camping on it though we should look for hills that look unnaturally round.
  2. If they had a vertical entrance for workers and personnel to come in and out of it would have to be in the side of a hill or dug down into the earth like the entrance I mentioned up above. Both would leave an unusual wedge in the landscape. In this case we should look at the hills surrounding the villa.
  3. If they had a shaft, they would have needed some sort of pulley/ elevator system. If the place was manned after the construction they would still need it. The tower would be the obvious spot to hide a pulley system. We should look there as well.
  4. If this place was meant to be secret to the world, they wouldn’t have abandoned it to rot away. We’re not so far from civilization that some party of adventurers or other sentients wouldn’t have stumbled across a door in some ruins in all that time. They probably would have filled in their entrance before they left. That dirt would have settled so we should look for depressions in the ground.
  5. If they did just abandon it to rot away and we are the first folks to come across it in centuries, we could just stomp around until we hear something hollow.

If they magicked everything, we’re going to have a different set of problems to puzzle through. Like remembering how to say “friend” in Khuzdul.

Can he do worms, moles, and other subterranean critters?

As for what he can control, you’ll have to ask Hawk that.

There are a variety of small burrowing animals about; food for the other hawks.

I don’t think anyone brought a shovel, but Thwip could provide one with his Gizmo advantage.

Ranar seems to have saved us from an archaeology scene. I’m good with how it played out.

I’m using the Gizmo advantage to get out a dowsing pendulum that might (GM’s blessings of course) interact with any metals or magical wards our hidden door might have. Hence the use of “sky stone” as a catchall for what’s in the bob.

If not, then it will at least make for what I hope is an amusing callback to a classic absent-minded professor;

As for how we handle the situation with Aronn and our gear, I think that might be best left up to the more military-minded characters.

Now that I think of it: Just picture Prof. Calculus here with green skin and you’ll have a Thwip.

An actual functioning dowser would require magic; that’s a bit beyond Gizmo’s capabilities.

Then comedy it is.

May we get a map, sir?

One hex = one yard, north is up. The ruins of the tower are about twenty yards off-map to the right (east).

Any footprint of where a buildings support pillars would have been?

Dangit, now I have to Google some architecture.

Rocks fall, Thwip dies.

There are signs of a double row of support pillars running east-west down the centre of the building, probably originally either side of a hallway.

The BBS told me I was posting too much so I’d like to let the others ask the questions.
