Replace the telephoto lens with an iPhone and factor in the part where I was able to get many of these pics without leaving the car and you pretty much nailed it.

I took my brother there a few years back and he was astonished to learn that the American Antelope (Pronghorn) is a real thing. He learned when one darted in front of the car and almost clobbered us.

When he stands up he does have modestly long legs, and I tried but failed to get him with his crest up (he pops it up and down constantly).

He does not say, “Beep Beep!”, disappointingly.

They’re basically the North American version of a Hoopoe, but family-wise they’re actually a large, terrestrial cuckoo.

Got some better closeups of the Yellowstone grizzlies later on our trip. Granted, these were in the American Museum of Natural History. (The Ghost of Teddy Roosevelt has loomed large on this road trip.)

This Huntsman spider was living on my rental car in NSW for a full week. I didnt have the heart to move it. It would scuttle around between the back hatch and the passenger-side mirror. Leg span roughly 3" / 75mm
