Miss ChiliDogCat posing in the chile peppers. that’s not cute, cat!
the hummingbirds here avoid the heat of the day.
I never saw any, but I knew they visited because I’ve been refilling the feeder.
fucking finally, just now, it was cool because it was raining lightly and I saw this guy.
unlike the video, my hummingbird won’t let me move at all within eyeshot of him, so if I moved off the porch he bounced. next time I’ll use my good camera.
Is she posing?
more of a willful insolence, because she knows she doesn’t belong up there.
She likes to lie in wait, spying on the chickens that scratch around in the palm trees and flowers there below the porch. not to worry for the chickens, she’s scared shitless of them and thinks they don’t know she’s there.
narrator: "they do!"
Ah. I thought she was using the planter box as a litter box. (I miss having kitties.)
oh, dear! I don’t think I would still have a cat if she started pooping in my peppers! I love my kitty, but I am very proud of my peppers!
I see one pepper growing, and it looks like a poblano?
[edit] Reminds me it’s time to take pictures of the mature, but not-yet completely over-grown garden. Wat? It’s nature, totally OT.
I’ll see you in the create/garden thread, then.
BTW: they’re jalapenos (right) and Brazilian star peppers (left side stalks) kitty is sitting on late season habaneros. that pisses me off.
Yeah, though I think Phoenix (and Tempe/Mesa) proper is liberaling up these days as well.
For a long time there were three coyotes, and now we always see this pair. Hard to know if one died or if this is a different family. If the former, perhaps it is summer coats and familiarity that makes them seem much smaller to the far more lupine coyotes I remember from winter.
Looks like a one-legged lubber.
Some folks catch big bass using lubbers for bait.
wait… you have lubbers in Finland?
I doubt it. I think it’s a meadow grasshopper or a bow-winged grasshopper.
Posting a selfie with Rocky, my landlord’s family pet terrier (?). He’s mah fren.
ETA: Every morning around 7:30, Rocky greets me on the way to the bathroom. When I’m finished, we go sit together at the top of the stairs. He feels safe in my arms, and often lies down in my lap.
Thanks! That cheered me up! Give him a scritch from me next time you hang out with him!
the yard birds scratching around under the front porch. They are a “island chickens” that are a breed unto themselves found running the streets and yards of all the Keys and Carribean. some are quite lovely and their bodies resemble game birds.
but don’t think about cooking one for Sunday chicken and dumplings as they are protected in the Keys
Sheeps of the land!!!
Ever since ready Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching books, I’ve had a soft spot for sheep.
