Smol kitteh on charger
Scientists from Federal University of Paraná designed a slipper for penguins. The flip flops are used to prevent pododermatitis that can afflict birds that stay in treatment centers for a long time while waiting for the day when they will be released into their natural habitat.
Here’s a series of my late kitteh doing a nice stretch. Note the go-go-gadget forelegs
And here is a back view of the “plumes” on part Maine coon cats (some of you might recognize Myrtle on the left, seen here contemplating the meaning of chickens):
And one more - Hairy helping us work on the house:
Go-go-gadget-feet is an amazing and accurate description for polydactyl kittehs!
Some imaginative scientific naming there: Cygnus olor = swan swan; Anas platyrhyncos = duck with a broad beak.
Speaking of paper kitties: a tip for special occasions when you need some extra “pop” in the decor - We usually play with just stuff around the house, like a ribbon, or paper bags or newspaper, but around the holidays I like to get a package of that multicolored tissue paper used in gift bags. The beast first uses them as little tents to hide in, then lie upon, then SHRED!!! It makes for a colorful display, very cheery
Some care is necessary.
The name for polar bear is “Ursus Arctos”. Ursus means “Bear” and Arctic means “the place where the bears live”, so the the name for polar bear translates to “the bear that comes from the place where the bears live”.
Not quite: Arctos also means bear, in Greek. The Arctic is basically “Where Bears Live” although it might have more to do with the constellations. But further, Ursus arctos is the Brown Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis is the Grizzly, in North America). The Polar Bear is Ursus maritimus.
This seems to be the day where I should be double-checking my sources more closely.
That’s a fun one I wouldn’t know if not for QI.
Fierce miniature Jaguar!
