Very very intelligent bird, who also love to chew on rubbery things. I was talking to a cycle tourer whose bike tires had been destroyed by a kea who loved their texture.

Where we live, there are plenty of funnelweb spiders, whose bite is particularly nasty. Happily, the venom is harmless to kookaburras, and they think funnelwebs are delicious. So when I hear that hooting and laughing, I get extra happy.
