We had a little altercation that left the porch (and half of the house) smelling a bit fragrant last night…
Young opossum tried to barge in on a young skunk – unlike the neighborhood cats, the skunk did not yield. They had a quick little tussle right after this screenshot (nobody seemed harmed).
Ugh! I hate skunk smells and we get a lot in our neighborhood. I feel very sorry for you.
I don’t mind skunk. The wife cannot stand it.
I doused the porch with enzyme stuff this morning – we’ll see if it is a bit more tolerable this evening.
That is a rare but known mutation. I have it too!
Perhaps I can box up the family and bring them down to ya?
Looks almost like a fetus’ foot pushing outward. It’s quite freaky to see IRL (and feel).
One of my favorite things is that the skunks occasionally hop away like Pepe
I must have it, too.
I kind of like the smell, but once when I mentioned it to the vet after our cat had an adventure, I realized it was a somewhat controversial opinion.
Now I’m wondering if there’s any correlation with people who taste cilantro as soap (I don’t) or any of those other random mutations.
My disgust for skunk odor goes back to my Saturday ski trips when I was 15. A bunch of people crammed into a stuffy passenger van. The heat is cranked up and then the smell of skunk. I mentioned in another thread that I don’t get car sick, but those ski trips with the skunk odor. Oooh boy.
(I love the taste and smell of cilantro!)
No, that seems to be a separate gene from what I’ve read. To make it personal, I like cilantro and don’t think it tastes like soap, but like you and @anon29631895 I find the skunk smell to be somewhat pleasant. Meanwhile, the daughter who is also fine with skunk thinks cilantro tastes like soap. That gene must come from her paternal side!
We seem to, too, but in our case I’m pretty sure it’s just someone smoking that particular strain of MJ. But it always fools me at first, and every time I think Wow, do we really have that many skunks in our urban neighborhood, and they find reasons to release their special odor so often?!? …Oh!! I mean, it’s aptly named…
