Mine goes back to every summer of my childhood. We had a neighbor with a shed that was elevated about one foot off the ground. Skunks were trapped and removed from under there multiple times. We had another neighbor who had a lot of feral cats in her yard. My father was not a fan of air conditioning, so we slept with the windows open at night when temps were about 70-80°F. The yowling would wake us up, and the smell would keep us from going back to sleep. Closing windows might lessen the odor, but make the sensation of melting into a puddle even worse.
Yep. The stifling air. It’s bad when it’s super warm (high 90s) out here, but I can only imagine how much worse it is with high humidity!
I think soap tastes like cilantro.
I think Ovaltine tastes like detergent.
I am right there with you.
I am not happy. This guy showed up a couple weeks ago with an injured paw. We haven’t been able to catch him but his limp has almost gone away so that’s good.
We are going to catch him sooner or later to get him neutered.
He follows Mrs. Feral around.
We’re not sure it’s feral, he meows and hangs out when we’re outside.
Interesting! I kind of like the smell of skunk. But then unless it’s really really strong I tend to think it’s weed, and I love the smell of weed.
Not a great pic, but we just got our first foster in a while, a pregnant kitty:
Her name is Baby, she’s only 9 months old, she’s due in one to two weeks, and her owner wants to re-adopt her after she’s delivered and the kittens are weaned and she’s spayed, she just couldn’t handle the kitten part. We had one like this before. It’s really nice knowing she has a loving home to go back to.
She’s really sweet. It’s quite a change from our last firecracker, Rocky.
Wish us (but mostly her) luck!
ETA another photo, top view, look how preggers she is!
It is Thomas!
You call him Thomas?!? That is undeniably adorable. I love how formal it sounds.
So is it “Thomas and Jerry?”
Or “Thomas and Gerald?”

A Facebook friend with a couple little kids suggested Turnip.
I said if I name it I’ll have to love it and get attached so he shall be known as “that cat”.
But then he did this today, maybe Turnip is not a bad name because he tried planting himself.
Our outdoor wyze cams were worth the money.
Proof of the old adage: if it fits, I sits.
Since I was a child I have loved Tom and Jerry. One day I was startled to hear one of the characters calling the cat Thomas. It was a shock to realize that Tom was just a nickname. Today I am amazed that Jerry is a nickname of Gerald, the mouse!
My name is Cat, That Cat.
I think these birds are very cool.
They were originally called Jasper and Jinx, in the very first cartoon!
You’ve reminded me of this short fiction by Steven Millhauser, that I liked a lot. You might enjoy, if you haven’t read it
(They don’t seem to offer the option of a gift link that I can post, but if you want to read it and hit the paywall, I might be able to forward it to you)
