Post your Pet or animal Pics (Part 2)

It’s been cold and rainy here the past week, not good weather for romping outdoors. Finally had the opportunity for some brave bunny time.

During the winter they unbonded and were fighting, so we had to separate them and rebond them again. Then about a month ago they seemed to have decided that they missed each other and are now fast friends.

I lost my dog today…

I should say misplaced, rather than lost. I don’t live in a big house. But twenty minutes of searching under beds, in cupboards, and still no sign of the rascal. Even called his name out the back door in case I’d inadvertently locked him outside. Nothing!

And then…

Turns out an old pillow, meant for the rubbish tip, had fallen behind a chair. He has made a sneaky new nest. Mystery solved.

Stealth dogs!

But seriously, have You tried opening a bag of pet food? It always works out here at home…

They always snub the expensive and fancy things we buy and prefer to recycle old stuff.

Years ago, I looked for a cat for an hour straight. Becoming increasingly frantic. She was in the couch. The covering over the bottom had ripped in a recent move and she decided to take a nap in there.

She was unfortunately not a food motivated cat. We had trouble getting her to eat enough

Kitten update: digestive systems fully on line for four out of five, only Tinker (tabby) is lagging a little. He’s the smallest, but he is reliably gaining weight, though slowly – finally!

Tink and Whole Note

Half Note and Quarter Note, a lapful of kitten foolishness

I posted this pic in Unicorn Chasers last week, so I apologise for the duplication but I have what I thought was an interesting update.

I spoke to the woman who takes care of the flock. I asked her if it was true that a black sheep is thought to bring good luck.

“Yes,” she replied, “and even better, she was a twin. One white and one black”.

Isn’t genetics wonderful?

I met the southern lapwings this morning with their babies. There are three of them. I didn’t dare to get any closer as these birds are very protective of their offspring. I took these pictures from a safe distance and yet they started to squeak and give me angry stares with their glowing crimson eyes.

There is a considerable grey spot somewhere in these pictures. I think a dust speck is stuck in the middle of the sensor or the lens.

Outside the concert hall yesterday after our matinee performance:

I sent the photo to my kids, saying something like ‘hanging out with my chorus friends after the concert’ and one of them responded:

It’s so progressive that they let a duck join a music group

I love the little cygnets.

Unfortunately, so do eagles, hawks, and snapping turtles, so we do not have a good ratio that make it past the first week. Last year, it was 0 out of 5 (if I remember correctly).

See, this is why they need ducks!

We got our first bluejay in the window bird feeder, they are coming daily now.

Grand bunny went back home, we’re not allowed to hold her or pick her up because she’s very fragile due to some sort of bone disease, you wouldn’t know it watching her play but I am allowed to give her cookies. We would open her pen every day, she won’t leave it because she can’t walk on the hardwood floors but the cats all go in and play with her.

They were chasing each other back and forth through the tunnel, bunny is in the tunnel. I can’t share the video because my wife has a thing about me sharing photos of her in PJs on the internets. She was sitting on the floor with them.

I was watching the video from her visit, she gets really active when we all went to bed

Eventually we’ll get some down the canal in our yard. This family is about a 10 minute walk. The parents are very protective keeping them in the tall grass.

We saw a goose get a little too close yesterday, a charging swan on top of the water is something to see.

We don’t kayak in there until babies are a lot more grown and when we do we carry bread or oats to bribe them.
