It’s April in Alabama which means the sneks are leaving their winter hideouts. There is a resident rat snake that I’ve seen around this time every year we’ve lived here, always a little bigger than the previous year. Well, today was the day I first saw it this year, with one big difference: it was in my garage.
I opened the garage door and tried to shoo it out with a broom, but it wasn’t having that. It scooted around me and found the gap between the face frame and the toe kick of the garage cabinets. I just hope it figures out how to find its way out. We’ll be looking under the cars before backing out for the next however long because I really do like rat snakes, and I would be wrecked if we accidentally ran over it.
