Was always a bit jealous of other areas… Growing up all we had was garter snakes and red-bellied snakes (with an occasional rare appearance of a smooth green snake). We allegedly had northern ring-necked snakes, but I never saw one.
I miss finding smooth green snakes, they’re so cute. When I was little, I found more of them than Garter snakes.
I know what you mean. All we had were gopher, garter snakes, and rattlesnakes. But one day in 1983, this little guy like this passed by on a trail:
A Western Ringneck snake in the Sierra foothills. It was absolutely the most stunningly beautiful snake I’d ever seen.

Ducks waddling back to their pond after breakfast. The homeowner has cut an access hole at the bottom of the fence and the ducks have eroded deep channels from walking.
If only that submarine had been a different color then they could have summarized two Beatles songs in one image.
