A hockey net seems like an odd creche. They look comfy though.

It’s a laundry bag that fits the hamper perfectly. The kiddos climb it like a jungle gym.

The babies playing slip and slide on the neighbor’s wave runner dock. And feeding them spinach and bread. All 20 are still with us.

Choose the 1080p version for maximum cuteness.

YouTube butchered the quality of this one but it’s still pretty soothing.

Lots of really good mom ducks around the job site today.

One more Dulce update for a while…

The kiddos are doing fine and got a clean bill of health from the vet today. It’s taken a fair amount of money to deal with immediate problems, but the vet says I can wait a month before vaccinations and to spay and neuter.

Dulce is still suffering from sinusitis and will continue to get antibiotics for a few more days, but she is definitely improving despite her babies taking so much caloric energy from her. Things will be better soon.

ETA: I should also add that there is more socializing going on. Ruby, Gremlin, and Pastel are becoming more tolerant of the new arrivals, and everyone is eating each other’s food. Today, the kittens were basking in a patch of sunlight, and nobody tried to take it away from them.

Holy oh whistle pig, Batman. No pics, but we just caught our 8th groundhog of the season! The last 2 we’re pregnant females. This one looks to be a yearling. I think we caught him before and he wormed his way out of the trap. I’ve taken precautions, until he can be relocated, but I’m nervous…
This is probably just as fitting to the gardening thread, come to think of it. These critters devastate a garden.

Dry rabbit in grass today. Wet rabbit in same grass a few weeks ago.

They grow up so fast, like overnight.

They visited after I went to bed last night. We learned something new about feeding them. Ducks love oatmeal.

I have no more oatmeal for breakfast but the babies loved it. They even dive under the water to get the little bits.

And, unfortunately we went from 20 babies to 19. They’re getting big enough to where the rest should all survive but losing one is still sad.

Another sure sign birds are nesting near you…

I walked past a short tree yesterday and a red winged black bird squawked at me and then proceeded to attack my head.

I apologized and got the heck out of there.

I’m trying to eat dinner, stop with the cute overload.

Our little sick girl even gave me the side eye when I said “awwwww, how cute”.

So my wife is sitting on the floor with door wall open grooming the last feral that’s been in our neighborhood for several years. She’s the mom to the guy we brought in last year.

She thinks I’m not hip to what she’s doing. I keep telling her no but I know the wheels are spinning and she thinks I’ll give in.

I do not have photos to post – for many obvious reasons! – but I would like to report that we have confirmed a bald eagle nest with at least one baby within an acre of our home in Indiana. We’ve seen eagles fly overhead over the years, of course, but to have them nest so close to a house is amazing!
