What a nice story 
We have an indoor kitteh, but our neighbor’s cat spent most of last summer on our porch so I can relate.
I also really like how the author captured that special treat that is an “unaffiliated” cat’s affectionate attention.

Our monsters found their voices about a month ago. In the evenings I’m outside about every half hour calling out either “Why you bark?” or “No bark!”

If there’s secret to get dogs to stop barking at deer that invade their territory, please share. They mostly come out at night.

I am sorry to say, if you have a dog with a strong prey instinct, you are out of luck!
If you can restrict the dog to a part of the home that doesn’t provide any windows toward where the deer are, that can work.

I think she can hear them running around, too. So, nothing short of a sensory deprivation helmet for dogs or some foolproof deer deterrent will do…

For us, keeping deer away is part of their job. It’s mostly scooter trash they’re barking incessantly and confusedly at.

My problem is the deer aren’t fazed at all by barking. They probably see a dog at the window and call their friends to take a look - like it’s part of an exhibit.

My friend has two large (>75 pounds) dogs, a husky and a hound dog of some type. The hound barks incessantly at deer, and the deer look at him, roll their eyes, and keep doing whatever they were doing. The husky merely looks in their direction, and they run away.
They’re not wrong in their assessment!

The Wire II. Asa branca.
Asa Branca is also the name of a famous song that tells the drama of migrants who have to leave their homeland due to a terrible drought. Just like the Asa Branca, a migratory bird that flies over great distances, these migrants travel thousands of kilometers looking for a better life in the big cities in the southeast of the country.
