Very cool!

And that was a case where the book and the movie didnā€™t share much more than the title, but both were great*.

And the vehicle from the movie, the Landmaster, was a real vehicle, that crazy suspension actually worked.

I used to see it every day on my way to work, parked outside of the shop of the guy that built it (I believe) in the Cahuenga Pass between Universal City and Hollywood. For years and years and years it had a forlorn little ā€œFor Saleā€ sign on it, and I always hoped somedayā€¦

But no. Someone else eventually bought it before I could scrape together the cash.

Hereā€™s my favorite thing about it, from that Wiki page:

The designā€™s strength allowed it to survive a 25-foot (7.6 m) jump during testing with no damage.

Now that right there is the Mule to end all Mules!
