This is one of those Simpson’s gags I didn’t pick up until seeing it in reruns a couple times. The show had that much humor, you’d miss stuff because you were laughing so much at the previous joke.

It’s pretty funny that he explains the joke and then unnecessarily pulls the trigger on it at the end. But not as funny as making an entire indie cinematic drama to set up the exact same punchline.
