President Bolsonaro boasts that Brazilians can bathe in excrement and not get sick

Bolsonaro questions the number of deaths by Covid-19 and speaks of fraud for ‘political use’.

Please don’t dive into sewage in Brazil. Hepatitis A is very common there. Typhoid is a very real concern. And out in the rural areas Schistosomiasis (flat worm parasite) is common as well.

By “immune” it is meant that poor people still work full time when they are sick. A family member cut back to a single shift when she had walking pneumonia. :frowning:

So they’re swimming in his brains - fascinating.

Somewhere some bootlicker in Brazil is bathing in shit the same way people in the US are taking chloroquine and suffering the consequences- because “dear leader” said it was safe.

Bolsanaro, you obviously don’t understand how hepatitis is spread in sewage, because you ARE sewage.

Please go lay down in it, open your mouth, and drown, you fascist moronic piece of shit

He’s not just pulling this out of his ass. It was a huge issue during the Rio Olympics.

My husband’s grandmother died Monday from respiratory issues (probably not Covid, she had Alzheimer and was 93) and NO ONE could fly to attend the burial, my coworker that wasn’t taking the quarantine seriously is sick at home and I had to take her workload to help the company not losing clients, I’m very afraid of losing my parents.

Fuck Bolsonaro with the fury of a thousand suns.

Absolutely.

Whereas Bolsanaro’s words could literally get people killed.

Major difference.

He’s saying his people can go eat shit (and die).

His own fluids seem so diseased that from his flight back from the Trump encounter where 23 people got sick with Covid he says that he’s the only one that tested negative (but the Airforce Hospital was forced to hide the positive results of two people that are very probably him and the first lady or one of his sons). He’s frigging Typhoid Mary.

He somehow lucked into the mild version of the virus and that feeds his delusions.

Denialism in the face of a public health disaster will kill hundreds of thousands of people.

Here’s another example from recent history where exactly that happened.

Unfortunately a good part of the population already “does” this.

Data from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) contradicts the statement by President Jair Bolsonaro that the Brazilian would be resistant to infections, since “he jumps into the sewer and nothing happens”.

In 2016, there were 166.8 hospital admissions per 100 thousand inhabitants in Brazil due to diseases related to the lack of sanitation.

Considering a population of 207.7 million at the time, there were 346.5 thousand hospital admissions for diseases caused by “inadequate environmental sanitation”.

Among the diseases that led to hospitalization are diarrhea, cholera, hepatitis A and leptospirosis (caused by exposure to the urine of animals, mainly rats).

The 2016 data are the latest made available by the agency and indicate a drop in the number of hospitalizations over the years.

In 2010, there were 309.1 hospitalizations per 100 thousand inhabitants, or about 610 thousand hospitalizations in total, considering the population of 197 million at the time.

Almost half of the Brazilian population (48%) do not have sewage collection, according to the Trata Brazil Institute, a civil society organization formed by companies with an interest in advances in basic sanitation and in the protection of the country’s water resources.

Sorry about the loss, and not being able to fly out to be there for the rest of the family must be though.

That is assuming that ‘history’ will be a thing in the future.
