Is there an easy way to see a bio or some introduction to the main page posters?
Edit: I found this: guest_authors - Boing Boing BBS
But seems like some of the newer front page posters just use a generic login and don’t have a page?

The BBS accounts are not the same as the “front page” (blog/BB) users. It’s a separate system. Popkin doesn’t have a BBS account at all, as far as I can tell, unless it’s under a different handle. Jennifer Sandlin has accounts on both BB and BBS, but the handles are different. It seems to be set up that if a BBS account doesn’t exist under the same handle as the BB contributor ID, the BBS topic starter defaults to the “boingboing” BBS account. Or, maybe there’s a setting in the BB content manager that allows contributors to specify their BBS ID to be the topic starter. @orenwolf might have some insight here.

Didn’t there used to be someplace on the main page that had bios for contributors?
So if I want to see more about Jennifer Sandlin where do I see it. Feels like there used to be a link to a bio. Or maybe there was a post introducing new folks. But now I don’t see anything.

So, a question.
I’ve noticed topics on the front page that immediately have closed on the BBS. Is there a place where we can discuss the content of those topics or is the intent that those topics are banned from conversation here? (The one I was thinking of was the one involving Koko the Gorilla. I’m aware most definitely of the current safety situation on the war in Israel.)

I would check the date of the front page posts in question. Every so often one from years back (sometimes pre-Discourse) glitches and opens or re-opens a BBS topic which has to be immediately closed by the Moderator or an Author.

The Koko’s kitten, Balloon Boy, and Jesus Vine posts whose threads were quickly closed were all from BB in July 2011

Has anyone noticed this? This is on android with the mobile app. It’s not as bad in a browser but still makes it hard to read sometimes.
It happens whenever that type of ad is on the page.

I’ve seen it happen on Chrome on Android. It’s one of the reasons I don’t visit the front page posts anymore.

Switch to Brave and skip the front page, straight to the BBS. You may miss the odd post/thread, but the peace of mind is worth it.

But if I read the full post that happens.
At the top of most BBS topics there’s a button that says “Read Full Post”, which shows you the full front page post in text only with zero ads.

Suggestion: Is it possible to use nitter.net instead of X for main-page links to that benighted social network?
There is a browser extension that rewrites all X links to Nitter. But it would be better if it weren’t necessary.
Will tweets-via-Nitter embed properly?
