Not just you. Been a thing for at least a week now
Yep, I’ve noticed it too…
I reported this to the ads email per orenwolf’s suggestion, but nothing ever came of it. I think it’s a bug in the page layout, not the ad. Rotating your phone to landscape gets it to render properly.
I know some sort of fix is being worked on for the comments link from articles but I found myself thinking: A decent alternative would be some sort of option here in the bbs to sort threads by the date/time the OP is from, rather than the latest post. So we could easily find threads associated with new articles.
Edit: Wait… maybe I’m just dumb and this is what the NEW option does
… OTOH the “New” sort-menu item only seems to show us topics we’ve never read before, so it’s not as useful as it might be
The comments link not going to the thread and so diverting to the BBS home page is well-known but increasingly I get this when clicking comments.
The thread does exist, of course, and if I go back to the BBS home page and use search function I find it.
But the “Oops!” page does not have the search function!
@orenwolf Any chance the “Oops!” page could have the search button added?
That’s not something we control, but I will ping the Discourse team.
Thanks, Ken.
It does seem rather a firm requirement for a ‘you didn’t want to be here / this is not the page you are seeking’ page to have a search facility to find the page I did want.
PS any idea why it is happening so much more often recently?
I can’t find a comment section for this post anywhere. I looked to see if it was a time warp from the past, but it is not. And I really wanted to comment on it because I love Dobie Gillis. Has anyone else seen this?
Yep, just appeared in a post of Mark’s too.
Also, is this related?
I don’t recall seeing that crossed out eye icon to the left of the title before.
Now I’m wondering if it’s an indicator that the topic isn’t open to comments yet?
It had that, then almost a couple hours later, it got one of the “listed” notes, and comments were showing up.
I could see how authors might want a moment to allow comments. Just a bit odd, not knowing what it’s all about.
If I’m correct, I’d like a nickname, some spin including discourse, being a nerd, and Agatha Christie, if you will.
yes… it is… it’s new AI fresh hell.
I did an AI summary of the metric system topic. Here’s an excerpt:
Ah yes, the famous space-shuttle sloth!
Space Sloth? I guess the 8th Deadly Sin is now “Space.”
