What are the parameters and goals of the investment project? Won’t that help you decide which way to go? Wouldn’t a cautious fixed income strategy be the best choice if you’re talking about a retired couple, but maybe the assignment is just to make the most return on investment, risk and diversification be damned?

Can you do what I did for a similar assignment in high-school, wait until the day before the project is due, go to the library and get newspapers from the last month and pick the stocks that started low and ended high, and then just write down all of the intervening dated data in my journal?
