Ok, I trust your experience but there is contradicting information on the interwebs. Seems many cultures consider offensive, and same with “ok”.
I’m just never going to gesture with my hands anymore (or put them in my pockets).

Born and raised. So yeah, you can trust me on this.
I live there now (coming up on 20 years) and I agree: the family knew what it meant. I might buy that no one running the event noticed the name as that would just require a bit of inattention. I do wonder how long it was before the photo that got it noticed was taken.

There are two other words on the sign that start with “J”, but those are shown under the dam’s name, and are not the same as the “J”-word that was in the cow-in-question’s name.
I would re-read the first two paragraphs of Frauenfelder’s post, and then go to the Wiki link that gracchus provided (here), and look for it there if you want to know it.
Done feeding the subterranean bridge dweller.

When I was a kid, I’d throw in whatever words were around me, and I didn’t understand a bunch of them - I distinctly remember playing some sort of sci-fi themed imagination game where we were visiting the planet “Uterus”. It was a science-y sounding word I’d heard somewhere. That is perfectly fine when you’re nine years old.
These are grown-ups (chronologically speaking).
Hey, at least that is a perfectly good sciencey word. It just turns out that the creatures from there were really us all along.
