Scotty beamed 'em up?.
Because all his stuff was protected by facial recognition software.
Both Abrams and his movies are shallow products of Hollywood business culture.
Maybe previous reports of his death were somewhat exaggerated?
What, you thought that this was Palpatine’s actual plan and not a mere distraction?
Star Wars X: The Revenge Re-Return of the Emperor Strikes Back!
So it sounds like we agree: the EU appealed to Star Wars fans who’d aged out of the “kid stuff.” In my view the kid stuff was integral to George Lucas’s Star Wars — it was firmly anti-cynical and hopeful — so Star Wars that strayed too far from it wasn’t the Star Wars I wanted. If a story couldn’t survive Ben Quadrinaros waddling through the background it’s not in the same universe as George’s movies.
So you felt a very real sense of painful loss upon seeing the destruction of something so clearly timeless and iconic? Then he did his job, as far as I’m concerned. If the audience can safely assume that everything really likeable is safe, and only the bad guys and minor characters are gonna die, there’s no real dramatic tension.
I feel like he gives his clones way more freedom than I ever would. Failed or otherwise.
They could (and should!!!) have fixed my biggest gripe with a single line of dialog in the first movie.
If Stark or Jarvis had ever uttered the words “inertial dampeners” then everything about Iron Man would be so much less crazymaking for me to watch. The vast majority of his landings, to say nothing of the melee, would cause nonsurvivable injuries. Sure, that suit makes him invulnerable to outside harm, but after a single three point crouch landing at speed, the completely undamaged suit would also be completely unoccupied apart from ~twenty gallons of something that really should have installed inertial dampeners.
Hm. A Palpatine Bad Batch series?
