I work for a non-profit and about 7 years ago, on one of my first excursions to a government funder, the funder had paid for us to take the train up to Albany for a meeting. The first comment made when the various government employees came into the room and we were handing out our materials was a bitterly delivered: “Ooooh, look who gets to print in color…”

The funniest one I ever came across was a government department which seemed to be going through rather a lot of paper. The logs rapidly showed that one employee was doing no work at all but running his own company from his office PC, including printing invoices and sales order acknowledgements, and running accounting software on his work computer.
This was too much even for the government, though to be honest I doubt that many of the people in the office would have had much of a negative effect on society had they failed to turn up for work.

Have you considered the possibility that some of the more significant leaks from the last year may have come from the very same people you’re criticizing? They’re not going to sign their name at the bottom.

This particular leak came from a low level contractor. I’m not talking about leaks. I’m talking about someone high up calling a surprise press conference, and making a full and complete statement. I know, career-ending, likely prison, but isn’t that what Reality is facing? Are the heroes only at the bottom?

Before working as a contractor she was in the Air Force in intel as a linguist, so she had TS/SI clearance at least. She must have passed the intel handling course at Goodfellow, so I’m guessing she’s just lazy or didn’t give a fuck.

That settles it. I’ve been in a coma since 2001 and the last 16 years is all something my brain is making up to entertain me while my senses are disconnected. Trump is clearly a metaphor for my internal reality breaking down (under arrest, indeed), and the doctors are going to decide to disconnect the life-support soon. It’s been at once more mundane and weirder than Iain Banks promised me, dammit.
