In the little villages near where I grew up, many fo the phone boxes now hold a defibrillator.
Even growing up in the 80’s, and not getting a mobile until I was almost 20, I only remember using a phone box about half a dozen times.

The accent was the immediate clue, followed by him saying it was in Birmingham… Brummies not so keen to be mistaken for us soft Southerners!
