True. Was told to me in the mid 70’s by an elderly chap on holiday in the Jewish run and clienteled seaside holiday hotel my mum worked at and that I came along with during summer months. It took me many years to understand the underlying dark humour behind it. I wish I had written down more of his jokes and sketches but if you look at many 50’s 60s and 70 American Jewish comedians you’ll get the jist.

Seems obvious: Huge ships are not as maneuverable or as stoppable as smaller ones, so they’re more likely to hit things and with that helped along by their greater size. They’re the big, doofy klutzes of the seas.
