With nothing else to do in a pandemic, he got to sorting through a box of iguanodon parts from the Natural History Museum of London that had been discovered on the Isle of Wight
Not for nothing, but that is an awesome way to pass the time. (major natural history nerd)
My nose is bigger, but I digress…
One interesting blind spot in the field of paleontology is that, like skin and feathers, we have relatively little physical evidence telling us what dinosaurs’ soft tissues looked like. If one had to learn about mammals from their bones alone it would be difficult if not impossible to accurately infer a camel’s humps or a human’s breasts or an elephant seal’s big rubbery nose.
So what I’m getting at is that is there’s a good chance some already-discovered dinosaur species looked like Jimmy Durante and we just don’t know it yet.
A new dinosaur?
