At 0:45, I find it very interesting that the AAA lady at the whiteboard didn’t have checkboxes for the following:
☐ Make you cry
☐ Tell a lie and hurt you
Therefore, we can assume that InsurAAAnce will make you cry, tell a lie and hurt you.
Does thier ful coverage policy pay out if my car gets Rickrolled?
Nice to see him leaning into this! He pushed back pretty hard when rickrolling first blew up. He didn’t want to keep reliving this part of his ancient history (which I can understand). On the other hand, it was a giant wealth gift from the internet (assuming he’s still getting residuals from that song).
Can’t let any thread about this video pass without acknowledging the real star of that video, dancer Clive Clarke (aka the token Black bartender). Nice to see they recapped his stunts in this remake, although the man himself was kinda erased in the process.
Interesting that the arched brick doorways seem to be a different location than the original. I definitely feel a bit let down.
He definitely seems to have embraced it in more recent years.
I’ve seen a couple of interviews with him, and he seems like a genuinely lovely guy, who, contrary to his Stock, Aitken & Waterman origins, is actually a pretty damned good musician.
He accepted the invitation to sing with Choir!Choir!Choir! in 2018. It’s clear he was having a good time.
(At the end he passes on the challenge to Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters, but I think COVID may have derailed that.)
The Foos and Rick Astley definitely sang together at least once!
