San Mateo County Sheriff's "BatMobile raid" goes unpunished

The San Mateo County board commissioned the inquiry and report because the Sheriff’s department and the DA did not investigate. The board endorsed the report’s findings of malfeasance and inappropriate use of county resources. The sheriff is an elected position and the board has no power to dismiss the sheriff. The sheriff in question was defeated by a former deputy in an election last year so dismissal is moot. I believe the board voted to publish the report to spur the DA to prosecute. We’ll see what happens.
