If funding scientists to study potential solutions, then periodically implementing those strategies to see what might work is just to be scoffed at and dismissed as PR, what the hell are we supposed to do?
I assume not all of those scientists think their ideas for saving the reefs are bunko.
I didn’t even know there was such a thing as Caribbean king crab. I bet it’s good.
I’ll take crab any day over lobster. The latter is ok, and we get some pretty decent spiny ones fresh/live off the coast of CA and Mexico. I made some on the grill last year.
But crab is better. Especially Dungeness.
Maryland blue tastes good, but is too much work with those little things.

Carribean king is very good and here we get stone crab - claws only. claws have to be at least 3.25 inch and the crab is returned alive to grow it back for another season.
the spiny lobster down here is, hands down, my fave.
oh,… and Key West pink shrimp!

There’s a Vietnamese grocery close to my house that gets live ones for their tanks in season.
The nice thing is that I can also get fresh baguettes at the same time while there.

What are Caribbean King Crab? Is that what they’re releasing? They kind of look like King Crab

well there ya go.
Carribean kings come from islands farther down south, but still Atlantic side. waters are too warm for spiny urchins to thrive (they would do the same clean-up these crabs offer. see Australia and Pacific coast). but being that we have some king and rock crabs already, it is not exactly invasive, just “moving up” populations of like species.
and yes, the legs and claws are good eating, but nothing beats stone crab claws! oh so big and juicy and sweet!
