Searches are far more urgent for missing women when they are white

Dude, for some one talking about how the intricacies of modern race relations aren’t that important in a discussion of Native women missing from within the US, you sure seem to be making a claim for some kind of unified eurocentric world religion of misogyny.

I kind of get your point, I think, but… tying everything back to Rome is itself rooted in a racist narrative that is way too close to the cultural mythology that gives us white nationalism and the eurocentrism that often drives indifference to the plight of POC in the US imo.

Ah, there it is, the white-male victim card.

“We’re the REAL victims here.”

Quelle surprise!

I certainly don’t wish to blame the the families of victims for being afraid of the police or the media. Their fears are completely legitimate. I do wish to say that the specifics of missing women are part of the more general systemic racism that is pervasive.

I’m pretty sure that xenophobia was the point. It may have been the only point.

The two selfie police – charged and pleaded guilty, awaiting court time.
Investigation team who failed to react – internal inquiry not finished yet.
Cressida Dick – still in post.

It was horrid abuse by the police and racist attitudes within the police were (again) brought to the public’s attention.

“Walker spoke with the Cut about the similarities she sees between Charlo and Petito, how true-crime reporting should be done ethically, and why Indigenous women and girls deserve the same attention and resources as white female victims.”
