Second U.S. person with omicron was at an NYC anime convention with 53,000 people

Ah yeah. Right now my work is trying to force me in all week now that I really realize I don’t want to waste 20 hours of my life per week to driving anymore. Because… I guess due to us having an office? I mange shit in the cloud. Yesterday I drew a line in the sand with a no.

In the case of cons they are trying hard to do the right things with hygiene and such but I really feel you on this one. I think the best con I have been to since all of this shit was the last Furality in VR. It hit every note and was fantastic. My roommate (Who invented furry conventions in the 80s) said it was the best con he has ever been to. Being in VR, It had other pluses like no matter what event you were at you had our own personal bathroom the same distance from you at all times.

Thanks, but I wish I hadn’t gone thru it. I’ll happily get another shot if required, though!

Yes!

The US federal mandate that employers provide two weeks extra of paid sick leave for people with COVID expired back in late summer. Seems like that would still be an important thing…

Vmuchso, the only amendment I might give is that recipients should be fully vaccinated (or have a good reason for not being so; “I don’t wanna” need not apply.)

I understand, but this isn’t so much for the person with COVID as their co-workers, who don’t deserve to be exposed to COVID at work.

When community spread is low enough that the mainstream of epidemiologists and public health officials aren’t screaming themselves hoarse about what a bad idea it is. That might take a while, but it will take a lot longer if we keep holding giant multi thousand person snuggle fests.
