…
Point of order: Ellen Ripley canonically had a daughter who died of cancer at age 66 while Ripley was in hypersleep after the events of the first movie. That scene was controversially cut from the original theatrical release of Aliens but helped inform the Ripley/Newt relationship in the second movie.
As for this movie, all I want to see is Grogu eating his way out of some hapless supporting character’s torso.
Sigourney has been my life long crush.
My first girlfriend was 6 feet in height, had black hair and kicked ass on the soccer & field hockey pitches.
I wonder if the movie ‘Alien’, which I had watched a couple of times just before I met her, was an influence on the situation.
Anybody else think ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ is a terrible title - no matter what the plot is?
I’m just grateful they aren’t continuing the trend of adding “: A Star Wars Story” to the title as they did with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story. And there’s something to be said about titles that are simple and to the point. Love or hate the franchise, we all know what we’ll be getting with this film.
It really should have been Grogu & the Mandalorian.
I thought I couldn’t adore Sigourney Weaver any more than I already did so - and then she turned up in an episode of the awesome French comedy series Dix pour cent (on Netflix as Call my agent) playing herself and speaking fluent French.
What a lady!
That sounds marginally better somehow.
Marginally.
I hope she has a major part, but I will settle for a short cameo.
She has sort of been in the MCU already. She was in the short, one season Defenders Netflix series, which, as far as I know, is now MCU canon, with the introduction of Daredevil and Kingpin and Punisher to the MCU. She played a big bad member of the Hand, I think.
… it’s a title that says, “This movie is not about anything — Disney said make a film with these two characters in it and that’s what we did”
My problem is that in my headcanon the titular “Mandalorian” wasn’t Din Djarin… it was Grogu. But I guess that idea is out the window now.
Maybe the title is still only about Grogu, in the same way as “An Officer and a Gentleman” describes one person?
her resumé locks in her status as a goddess of sci-fi.
That list left out Galaxy Quest!
Nah, Captain Grogu’s Mando-Inn.
It could start with Grogu now talking (voiced by Nicholas Cage), and having been given a honorary rank of captain by local authorities for some off-screen minor heroism. Since season 3, Din Djarin’s opened a bed and breakfast to support them after retiring from bounty hunting.
The movie looks like it’s going to be about Mando and Grogu reluctantly being drawn back into action by a war started by Thrawn.
Instead it’s mostly about Din’s burgeoning romance with a jovial, musically talented New Republic commander (Sigourney Weaver) who gets stationed nearby as part of the planet’s garrison - and their attempts to win Grogu over as a potential new co-parent.
Lone Wolf and Cub was taken.
