As any actor who’s done a drinking scene will tell you, they usually mime or spit it out.
I, too, was expecting strangely warped and outlandishly painted items from the sets of German expressionist movies.
Empty cups and glasses drive me nuts. At least put some water in there so it has some weight.

THANK YOU. This drives me crazy as well, and sometimes I feel like the only person who notices this. Liquids are inconvenient on set, I’m sure, but I wonder why weighted mugs and Starbucks cups aren’t standard props? It’s always so obvious when actors are holding and carrying empty containers.
See also when a character is handed a freshly made hot drink and immediately takes a big swig of it.
Cool but stop with the vertical videos already!
