Librarians rock … and rule!
Is there anything librarians can’t do?
Sadly, they can’t beat the Virus, at least not yet
That’s nice. Appreciative. The world would be a better place if businesses did this instead of taking all of their retirement money.
Agreed! To the librarians among us:
The Swinburne college library (also in Melbourne) had graffiti outside the entrance which said “Conan the Librarian”.
It must travel like childhood song parodies.
I went to a book sale at a gigh school here, and got a Conan paperback, and it was the school librarian taking the cash. And she said “The kids call me Conan the Librarian”
Being able to book a Zoom session so you can read to a dog online - now that is quality!
I’m really proud of this - Yarra Plenty is our local library service, and mum was the head librarian at
one of their branches. This is completely consistent with everything they’ve done since they were established to “competitively tender” as library management by a previous conservative government. A collective of staff from the existing libraries were not what the government had in mind.
Librarians are badass.
Now, there’s just this small matter of an overdue copy of “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” that you borrowed 20 years ago…
It was Tropic of Cancer in the episode of Seinfeld with “Bookman”.
Nowadays, kids will get their almost porn on DVD, maybe from the library. Poor kids, nothing is left to their imagination.
They can’t talk loud in the library. They should know better.
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic, but it really is! The program helps kids with reading problems and associated anxiety issues improve their reading skills and learn to love reading. The fact that libraries are making this available even in COVID times is completely in character and also completely amazing.

I’m sure it loses something by not being able to physically be with the dog, but surely it’s better than nothing.
(Full disclosure: I thought it was silly when I first saw it listed at my local library. I was wrong. Or maybe not wrong, as it is totally silly in the best sense. It’s also awesome.)
Hell no! I think this is awesome for real. That’s the curse of talking online though - sarcasm and sincerity sound the same.
Totally! On another thread, I assumed someone was being sarcastic even w/o the /s, (they were), and here I was tending to assume the opposite. Doh.
'Straya, fuck yeah!
Some of us say ‘cunt’ a lot, some are librarians with hearts of gold.
I doubt there’s much crossover between the two but you never know!
