Coming Soon: Advertising in your dreams. (I think this was a plot point in an old sci-fi film but I can’t remember which one)

And would be co-opted immediately by Zuckerberg and his ilk as an advertising platform.

Is Futurama considered to be old SciFi now?

I don’t trust any fucker that wants to put words and thoughts into my head.

Adverts on billboards, newspapers, radio, television, streaming, on apps, between apps, podcasts, before movies, in movies, between shows, during shows…

FUCK OFF

The inescapable horrors of advertised capitalism and politics already infest my dreams too often, thanks.
You can keep it.

And yet, going just a level deeper, it’s all so much worse than just the ads by themselves.

If it can get worse, it probably already has.

According to Ars Technica, Remmyo is a “language” created specifically for use while lucid dreaming. It utilizes facial muscle movements and can be learned while awake.

So…Dreamer 1 is sent a facial muscle movement “word” via earbuds…translates it into a facial twitch? & somehow sends it back to the server? which then repeats the word to Dreamer 2…again via earbud??..& then Dreamer 2 confirms upon awakening?

So many question marks for me…

The Firesign Theatre album “Give Me Immortality or Give Me Death” opens with an advertisement for a mattress store being delivered into people’s dreams. The store is called “Unconscious Village” lol.
