Somewhere on a 3.5" floppy in a box somewhere in my basement is a copy of an example of the then new gif89a format. It shows off various features like text layers. If I remember correctly, it contains a picture of Stephen Wilhite, and he does express his preferred pronunciation. I wasn’t able to find it after several failed searches, and I’m not about to go digging through my basement.

Are there any browsers that fully support gif98?
I can’t seem to find any definitive info anywhere. My guess would be that none of them do, there’s just no incentive to. I’m also not sure there are any other image formats that have such oddball features, either.
