I wonder if one of the reasons we find it satisfying is because it looks very much like butter cream frosting, which evokes Proustian memories of birthday cakes?

I have zero art talent; I do paint by numbers mostly just for an excuse to mix the colors and see how they come out. Maybe i’ll just start mixin’ and forget the rest.
