Is that some well-known celebrity masseur? Or her husband or boyfriend? Because he doesn’t look old enough to be her father - almost, but not quite - and I’m pretty sure he’s being inappropriately handsy to be anyone else.
I don’t really mean to diss actors, I just can’t help noticing that the entertainment industry really really seems to like putting on lavish award ceremonies for itself.
I know it’s crazy, right? That actors would like to dress up and get on stages…

“In all things, especially politics. Without them you wouldn’t know what to think.”
Most of them seem to have OK political views, but those former reality TV show hosts are just the worst.
Very true, but in fairness many industries and groups tend to throw lots of awards ceremonies for themselves. I’ve been to a few, including more than one where my wife got a cool science award. (Once from the president! Doubtful that will happen again for any scientists any time soon). But the media hordes tend not to show up for those. Maybe actors just have more friends who operate cameras for a living?
By the nature of the industry they do certainly know how to put on a show.
I liked that SNL sketch from the 90s that was basically “what if Nobel Prizes were awarded like the Oscars?”
Tiger Blood.
Somehow it just twists my goat how celebrities somehow get more weight to their opinions than any other tradespeople. Kinda all the more so when they get to use their televised circle jerks to do so.
Maybe we need the same from the Wastehaulers Awards Convention to balance them out.
They don’t get “more weight,” they just have a bigger stage. Same way that when topless pictures of Jennifer Lawrence get leaked they get more attention than topless pictures of your Applebee’s waitress.
It’s funny that the people who complain about celebrities voicing political opinions because they’re “just actors” don’t seem to have a problem with it as long as the celebrity’s opinion matches their own. They don’t ever complain about Ted Nugent’s lack of qualifications. Or fake plumbers.
I personally really don’t care which way they swing on the political meter. Anyway you phrased it better about the bigger stage but I think that gives them some more weight in the public eye.
Yeh, it’s not obvious in the gif but in the full video it seems that she gets a slightly creeped out look on her face as soon as Modine starts touching her and looks to a couple of places in the audience (presumably her friends) with a “what the hell is this shit?” expression.
She then remembers that she’s on camera and realises that another of her costars is giving a fairly right-on speech, so she tries to suppress the “ick” expression and show her support but doesn’t quite manage to cover up her initial reaction to being pawed on stage while accepting an award.
I can’t say I blame her, to be honest.
What kind of Trump supporter has a dead tree dictionary on hand?
I have more respect for celebrities who use their fame and public attention to advocate for the causes they are passionate about than the ones who use that fame solely for self-aggrandizement.
True, it is a type of book, which makes it less likely they’d own one. But there are plenty of online fake-dictionaries.
The opposition to Trump exceeded Peak Celebrity back when they posted that video demanding that the electors vote for someone else.
Trump’s entire campaign was based on his celebrity—he sure as hell wasn’t running based on qualifications. Trump and his supporters don’t get to call out Hollywood for getting involved in political issues that lie beyond their area of expertise, nor on their lack of respect for the political process.
It sucks the way that hollywood types are just part of the revolving door in Washington, isn’t it? I mean, going between films and running the economy the way they do… Oh… sorry, that’s Goldman-Sachs.
Well, there is Steven Mnuchin.
