Stunning 23-foot wall chart of human history from 1881

Indeed! My aunt who died last year used to send as a christmas package every year (which made me sad when it didn’t arrive this year…). In one of the recent ones, she sent me a book called “A History of the World in 12 maps” which I haven’t gotten around to reading yet. I always find it interesting what you can learn about how people used to understand the world, space, and even time, through maps.

I would love that I have been obsessed with maps all my life.

This is the book:

Apparently, the guy who wrote it also wrote a book about the letters between queen Elizabeth I and Sultan Murad III (The Sultan and the Queen, it’s called), which I heard about a while ago and thought would be interesting to check out.

Let me know if it’s good if you get to it before I do (the map book)!

I’m about a quarter of the way through it right now. So far so good.
