I saw this on emergent.com looking for something else. It seems true enough to me, but ATM they still say unverified:
TMZ reported it, not citing any specific source. They quoted his fellow Sugarhill Gang members as saying, “So sad to hear of our brother’s passing. Rest in peace Big Bank.” Fox News then followed on with a report that said David Mallie, who it said manages the group’s two remaining living members, confirmed the news. We’re holding on marking this as confirmed due to the fact that Mallie is the sole source.
