☭ Sup Marxists? ☭

Hah, for what he actually plays we get no seats/bleachers, etc. He is on the school Ultimate team. I am hoping it won’t be wet for the double header they have tomorrow morning. On the other hand the coaches are awesome at letting the kids play to have fun and be good sports over being a winning team.

I’ll watch the video, later. I love China Mieville’s writing. And not just because of his politics – his writing is just brilliant.

Funny thing, especially with the Sad|Rabid Puppies in mind, is how I first heard of him. Years ago, I’d just finished reading a novel by a science fiction writer I’d seen praised as an outspoken feminist, and was disappointed that the author seemed to assume that free market capitalism was the only way to organize a society. I was at a party, nominally a fundraiser for our socialist group, and I started ranting how it bothered me that even in science fiction and fantasy, where you’d expect people to be imagining alternative forms of society, I’d almost never see anyone trying to imagine an alternative to capitalism. So, one of my comrades said that, funny thing, he’d just heard that one his old comrades from London had published a fantasy novel, and it was doing quite well: Perdido Street Station. (Actually, his second novel.)

I take him very seriously… and, I’m not alone.

He might win against Hillary. And if he does that, crazy-hair-McGee will definitely win the White House.

Electric Boogaloo? But yeah. The mainstream of the parties have the nomination process on full lockdown, making it hard for these kinds of upsets. It’s even worse now than it was in the 60s and 70s. Nader was totally right about the duopoly.

It doesn’t help that they have gerrymandered themselves into safe districts, which from what I understand is why so many nutcases on what was the fringes of Republican land have managed to easily get into office and able to run for President.
