☭ Sup Marxists? ☭

The establishment Dems are to the right of American majority opinion on just about every issue.

When you look to the people rather than Congress, the centre of American political opinion is not between the two parties; it’s slightly to the left of the Democrats.

About 10-20 years ago in the UK there was a 10 year period when Charles Kennedy moved the Lib Dems to the left of the Overton Window, admittedly with Tony Blair’s help. That ended when Nick Clegg became leader of the party though.

I like it. But I think it needs a little work to make it trip off the tongue. :sunglasses:

Flamengo have signed Marx Lenin! Sadly he doesn’t play as a left winger.

The best politically left wing Brazilian footballer was Socrates, who also played at Flamengo for a season.

I’m so sorry to be a dumb American stereotype, but all I can think about is this and how long until it happens for reals (even though his last name is Lenin, not Marx)…

Does anyone have a Hegel?

It doesn’t look like it.

It is probably worth reminding everyone that Albert Camus was a goalkeeper for the Racing Universitaire d’Alger youth team, before tuberculosis ended his career at age 17.

OMG, I wonder if that’s the origins of the Python sketch?

The youth is starting to understand the virtues of shared prosperity, as they almost have no choice in an era of unbridled greed and limited resources.

It’s just that unbridled greed has been turbo-cooked into being “cool” in mainstream culture since the 80’s (wonder what happened then?)

Evidence for this can be found in Hip-Hop’s historic trajectory. Starting off as space in which one could describe one’s plight, today’s most popular hip hop songs describes one’s own height and flight into escapism, taking whatever is needed to escape facing the reality of sharing limited resources and indulging in the fantasy of having it all without consequence.

Lunice’s “Distrust (feat. Denzel Curry, JK The Reaper & Nell)” indicates to me a big step forward in the mainstream acceptance of the challenge at hand in creating shared prosperity and pushes it forward, much like Basquait in death is doing so in contemporary art with inspired works.

Key lyrics to look for: “Am I the only human in truest form?” … “When I’m looking at myself I only see my brotha face” … “Government only want you in debt.”

Slowly, but surely, justice is on its way. Imma be bumping this track down the streets with my black and red flags B)

Well, now I know why he went on to write an entire book about how - all things considered - you probably shouldn’t kill yourself.

It should have occurred to me years ago that all philosophy is basically written only for the author.

After Marx Lenin the other day, The Guardian have mentioned that there are some other footballers named after political thinkers

In 2013 Mahatma Gandhi played for the same team as John Lennon

And what kind of parent calls their kid Richard Nixon?

To be fair, people have been talking about Late Capitalism for a while. When I was writing a paper on Throbbing Gristle, Genesis P. employed that phrase when talking about why he decided to name their label industrial music - commentary on deindustrialization. If you agree with Marx that capitalism will eventually eat itself, then you buy into “late” capitalism, because you think it’s going to give way to something better - the end of history. Doesn’t seem like the proletariat are interested in participating in that narrative, though.

Cultural Marxism - A Primer. While the attacks on President Trump arise out of political warfare considerations based on non-kinetic lines of effort (as discussed below), they operate in a battle-space prepared, informed and conditioned by cultural Marxist drivers. In practical terms, the political warfare assault on President Trump cannot be separated from the cultural Marxist narratives that drive them. From an operational preparation of the environment perspective, President Trump is operating in a battle-space that reflects the left’s vision.
As used in this discussion, cultural Marxism relates to programs and activities that arise out of Gramsci Marxism, Fabian Socialism and most directly from the Frankfurt School. The Frankfurt strategy deconstructs societies through attacks on culture by imposing a dialectic that forces unresolvable contradictions under the rubric of critical theory. The result is induced nihilism, a belief in everything that is actually the belief in nothing.
That post-modern (diversity/multiculturalism) narratives seeks to implement cultural Marxist objectives can be demonstrated by reference to founding Frankfurt School theorist Herbert Marcuse’s repurposing of the term tolerance. In a 1965 Marcuse defined tolerance as intolerance; said it can be implemented through undemocratic means to stop chauvinism (xenophobia), racism, discrimination; and should be extended to the left while denied to the right:
