Actually that’s a suprisingly low premium over their binoculars with less electronics. Swarovski optics are very nice and very very expensive.

I’m curious how well this actually works in the field (including the photo quality vs digiscoping). I’m sure somewhere there is a birder raging about newbies with these taking the fun out of remembering every species :wink:

Okay, while I’ll grant there are potential problems with these (just like with everything else), this is a pretty cool idea and I do kind of want to try them out for a few weeks. Aside from birds, what else do they help identify? Cars, cool rocks, trees? How about people? (Possible terrifying idea: tap into the net to match what you’re seeing with photos.)

I don’t really see any tactical advantage here.
